CULTURAL/ARTS
Time: 10:00 AM - 12:00 AM
Author Talk/Book-signing

Allen Ruff is a former bartender, currently a book seller, cab driver, story teller and political activist. He holds a Ph.D. in US History from the University of Wisconsin and has previously published several book-length histories, and numerous journalistic pieces. This is his first novel.

A talented raconteur, he inherited that skill from some of the real New Haven characters, now the inspiration for "Save Me, Julie Kogon." The book portrays four generations of a Jewish family coping with life in the Legion Ave/Oak Street neighborhood of New Haven. He currently calls Madison, Wisconsin home.

Scream the Truth at the World: Emanuel Ringelblum and the Hidden Archive of the Warsaw Ghetto

May 4 - June 20

On September 18, 1946, evidence of the destruction of Polish Jewry, ghetto life, and Nazi brutality was pulled from the rubble of the Warsaw Ghetto. The Ringelblum archive, as the materials came to be known, is the most important source for, and the most poignant testimony to, the destruction of Polish Jewry.

Scream the Truth at the World: Emanuel Ringelblum and the Hidden Archive of the Warsaw Ghetto, curated by the Museum of Jewish Heritage—A Living Memorial to the Holocaust and the Jewish Historical Institute, Warsaw, will be on loan to the Jewish Historical Society of Greater Hartford in West Hartford, Connecticut from May 4 through June 20. This is a stop on a national tour for the exhibit, which was originally on view at the Museum in New York from November 7, 2001 through February 18, 2002, and subsequently appeared internationally, including venues in San Francisco, California, Houston, Texas, and throughout Europe.
